Mirrors…Reflecting (upon) God’s Grace

Obnoxious for Jesus – The Rest of the Story…

I wanted to call the mom of the young man who came to help with Angel Food, (read all about him here.) and tell her what a great help he was, and how much we enjoyed having him and such.  I have only ever talked to her on the phone, but she seems really nice.  She was quite pleased that I called to “brag” about her son.

During the conversation, I spoke about him coming to church, and she told me that when he got home, he was all smiles and he said “It sure was nice to be back in the House of the Lord.”

Knock me over with a feather, I am so excited!  Here I am trying to make sure that he gets to meet Jesus, and he already knows Him.  And to make it even sweeter, he said “Mom, wouldn’t you like to go to church?”  I could just burst!

I did extend the invitations for her and the rest of the family to come and give our church a try.  I do hope that they come.  It was a complete joy, talking to her, and building up the Body.

Dearest Lord, I lift up this family to You.  They are new in town, and might not have very many friends, and surely seem to be looking for a church home.  They don’t have to choose my church, but we surely would love to have them.  Father, I ask for Your Hand of Blessing upon them, that they would hunger and thirst for You, regardless of the place of worship.  Your Awesomeness it too much to behold.  In the Name of Jesus, Amen!

And Amen again. Blessings to you Mirrored. I have been praying for your situation as well. I hope things are going better for you.

I think people forget how important words of praise are. They are really powerful for connecting with people — and lifting them up. So good for you, calling that mom and letting her know you appreciated her son. Praying for them is important, too, but people need to hear our words of affirmation. I think it’s wonderful that you called — and that you may have helped this family feel a little more welcome in their new home.
